Communication audit
See how information flows across your organisation and where it breaks down.
A communication audit shows how information flows across your organisation, which channels work and where messages are lost. It is a strong starting point for an internal communications plan.
Who it is for: Leadership, HR and communications teams.
Timeline: 1–4 weeks, and can be extended depending on the scope of the assessment.
When to use it
- When staff often hear news late or from other sources.
- After rapid growth or a move to hybrid work.
- Before designing an internal communications plan.
What we measure
- Channels and their use: We map the channels in use, such as email, WhatsApp, meetings and notice boards, and how people use them.
- Clarity and timeliness: We assess whether information is clear, accurate and arrives in time to be useful.
- Manager communication: We look at how well managers pass on information and explain decisions.
- Upward and cross-team communication: We assess whether people can raise ideas and concerns, and how well teams share information.
How we assess
- Staff survey
- Channel review
- Interviews and focus groups
What you receive
- A map of how information moves between leaders, teams and sites
- A clear view of where messages are lost, delayed or misunderstood
- Practical recommendations on channels, routines and manager communication
